You and your baby will not be separated until you are ready unless absolutely necessary. Immediate skin to skin allows your baby to adjust to the outside world on the most familiar place...you. Skin to skin also helps with breastfeeding. We delay any exams until you are ready to go to the bathroom the first time or at your request. Read more about your baby's Magical Hour here.
Delayed cord clamping is part of our care. This allows baby to establish breathing while still receiving oxygen from the placenta. It also allows the baby to receive up to 1/3 of their blood that remains in the placenta. This increases their blood volume, hemoglobin and iron reserves.
We offer all newborn screenings required by Montana. These are completed at your first postpartum visit.
We offer circumcision for newborn males at the parents' request. We can discuss this further with you at an office visit.
We will provide you with education to make choices that are right for you and your newborn for all treatments and newborn care options offered at GBFBC.
