Melissa started her nursing career at the age of 18 as a certified nurses aid. She completed her Associate Degree in Nursing in 1997 and her Bachelor's Degree in 2011 from Montana State University Northern. Melissa completed her Master's Degree in Nursing/Certified Nurse Midwife at Frontier Nursing University in 2015 . After working as a Labor & Delivery nurse for 16 years including being part of the Perinatal Flight Team, midwifery and woman's health were calling her. She is honored to serve women and their families through their childbirth journey. Melissa started Gentle Beginnings Midwife homebirth practice in 2015. The timing was just right to take over the Family Birth Center from Elaine Becker. She looks forward to serving women who desire low intervention births. She is also happy to care for women throughout their lifespan. When she is not catching babies she is spending time with her husband, Adam and their kids still home, Olivia, Aidan and Sarah. She puts her oldest son, Dakota, to work on their house remodel when he is home for a visit. They enjoy being outdoors and Melissa is learning to fish.

My name is Joanna. I am the first born of 5 children to Vern and Jenny Greyn of Dutton, MT. I attended Dutton Public School till the 7 th grade and then attended Christian Liberty Academy, as a homeschooler, until I graduated in 2013. Growing up in our house was always an adventure. One thing we were always sure of was that we were loved. They instilled in us as children the importance of love, honesty, respect, and work ethic. I married my husband Mike Miller in 2004. We have had all three of our boys, Phoenix (9), Brayden (6), and Blake (4), with Elaine. She is very professional, calming, and experienced. I have been helping at the Family Birth Center since February of 2016 and it has been one of the most humbling, exciting things I have done. It has resulted in my decision to go to College for nursing. I am completing my BSN in Nursing through Bozeman. Along with school, in our free time, we like to camp, hike, and fish. Phoenix has dabbled in some Taekwondo and we all love to swim.
Elaine is a certified nurse midwife having practiced in hospital, home, and birth center settings for over 20 years. She later returned to school to complete her master of science degree in nursing and became a certified nurse midwife through Frontier Nursing Service. She has delivered approximately 3,000 babies. Her experiences include both high and low risk mothers. In 2006, Elaine opened the first licensed birth center in the state of Montana and helped author the legislation that now governs nurse midwives and birth centers throughout the state. Although a Wisconsin native, she has lived out west for most of her life. She and her husband of 40 years have happily settled in Great Falls. Elaine’s children (all girls!) and grandchildren (all boys!) live throughout Montana. Elaine covers for Gentle Beginnings FBC.
